The new iWAP103 is Extronics next generation of universal access point enclosures and offers many new features. The iWAP103 is protected to IP66 standard and designed to fit the specific vendors Access Point with the basic configuration offering POE input. Other new features include a 110/230 VAC or 24 VDC power supply, multi mode fibre optic ethernet connection, antenna lightning arrestors and a heater to extend the temperature range of the wireless equipment to -20 Deg C and prevent condensation occurring.
Two optional RS232/422/485 serial interfaces can be used to connect devices such as MESH sensor Gateways or PLC’s and two 802.3af compliant POE switch ports can be used to connect IP Cameras, further access points or other ethernet equipment.
Extronics RF link budget calculator will calculate the distance a link will work over reliably allowing input of losses such cable and connectors, taking into consideration free space loss, the effect of antenna gain and most importantly it will confirm if the link is safe to use in a particular hazardous area gas group as it has the maximum safe EIRP power levels embedded for your convenience.
Extronics is a leading global supplier and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion proof equipment with headquarters based in the UK. We serve customers that work in potentially explosive environments especially in the chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, oil and gas industries.
In today’s highly competitive world manufacturers and service companies in the Oil & Gas, Chemical and Pharmaceutical process industries must ensure optimum efficiency to remain competitive and achieve the expected return on investment.
Over the last decade or so the introduction of PC based control systems and software applications have enabled large cost savings and provided management with visibility over their operations. However the majority of these systems and solutions have been based on fixed workstations located in a control room or on plant meaning that workers can only interface with these systems in their locality.
The high cost of installing cabling to facilitate infrastructure such as system I/O in areas of plant deemed “non process critical” means that large amounts of plant data is effectively trapped on “data islands” as it has remained uneconomical to gather and transmit back to central control or management information systems.
With the latest modern wireless local area networks (WLAN) based on the worldwide 802.11 standard a whole new era is born. The next step change to process optimisation, efficiency gain and plant data visibility is now possible using Extronics wireless networks and wireless equipment. Applications once deemed impractical and too costly are now a commercial reality.
Extronics offers part or complete solutions to OEM’s, System Integrators and End Users depending on the scope of the project. Whether it is hardware supply, network design, site surveying or commissioning Extronics has the solution for your hazardous area and extreme environment networking applications.

Automatic Mustering and Personnel Location Systems enable companies in the process industries to automatically account for and locate personnel across their facility and greatly improve staff safety in hazardous environments.
Automatic mustering improves the speed and accuracy of accounting the whereabouts of personnel during an emergency with the abiliity to locate missing or specific personnel with pin point accuracy . Extronics new system powered by Aeroscout offers the fastest possible method of ensuring site evacuation in hazardous environments.
Other highlights include counting of people into lifeboats for evacuating oil and gas platforms and a Tag with an emergency call button and motion detector for increased personnel safety.
