Extronics launches Automatic Mustering and Personnel Location system

Extronics new Automatic Mustering and Personnel Location system will greatly improve the speed and accuracy of identifying the whereabouts of personnel in hazardous areas during an emergency. Whether accounting for tens or thousands of people Extronics' system provides a much more reliable service than traditional manual methods of mustering.

Congleton, UK, 9th December 2008:  Muster PointExtronics, a leading supplier and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion proof electrical and electronic equipment, has launched a new Automatic Mustering and Personnel Location system. The Automatic Mustering and Personnel Location system will improve the speed and accuracy of accounting the whereabouts of personnel during an emergency with the ability to locate missing or specific personnel with pin point accuracy.

The basic methods of mustering using manual paper, T card or passive card/tag reader based systems require personnel to remember to sign or swipe in and out of plant areas and can be time consuming tallying up all the personnel that have assembled at the different "muster points" and ensuring that this equates to the total number of people on the entire plant. Manual systems take much more time due to no overall visibility of the total number of people on plant and/or at muster areas.

Extronics' Automatic Mustering and Personnel Location system is scalable from tens to thousands of personnel and can grow with user requirements to a complete site wide personnel and asset location and tracking solution.

Lifeboat PointOther highlights include counting of people into lifeboats for evacuating oil and gas platforms and a tag with an emergency call button and motion detector for increased personnel safety.

Intrinsically safe and explosion proof versions of the hardware are available from Extronics making the Automatic Mustering and Personnel Location system suitable for all hazardous process industries.

Included in the range of products are location receivers, Wi-Fi access points, tag exciters, active RFID Wi-Fi tag and web browser based software.

John Hartley, Managing Director of Extronics, commented, "We have developed our system through close relationships with some of the world's leading experts in RFID and Wi-Fi technology and applications. By adapting their existing cutting edge products and tapping into the knowledge of our partners, we know that the end solution we are offering for use in hazardous environments will be the best on the Man with Exciter x2market. In addition, it will also be future proofed as the technology evolves and our customers find new ways of using these tools that have not previously been available to them."

To complete the system AeroScout's MobileView software is easily integrated with other software applications such as SAP, MRP, ERP and site DCS. With many functions such as Report Generator & Viewer, Event Engine, Alert Manager, Mapping Tools & User Access Manager the MobileView software gives users true site wide visibility.
