iANT100 zone 1 antenna optimised for 5GHz spectrum
Increased safety omni directional antenna can now operate in bands A, B and C.
Congleton, UK, 11th August 2008: Extronics, a
leading supplier and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and
explosion proof electrical and electronic equipment, has today made
available an update to its increased safety iANT100 omni
directional antenna for hazardous areas. Previously optimised
for wireless networks in the 2.4GHz spectrum the intrinsically safe
antenna now also covers band A (5.15-5.35 GHz), band B (5.47-5.725
GHz) and band C (5.725-5.87 GHz) with a gain of 8 dBi. The new
capabilities further enhance the iANT100's flexibility for RF
propagation in extreme environments.
"We continue to use our expertise to add to our wireless network solutions for hazardous areas," said John Hartley, Technical Director of Extronics. "By adding further functionality to the iANT100 we increase the scope and flexibility of our wireless range. Improvements such as this, alongside new product development, make our intrinsically safe networks suitable for even more applications."
The iANT100, now optimised for the 5 GHz spectrum, can be used for IEEE802.11a wireless networks or band b and c wireless MESH Ethernet networks in the zone 1 and 2 extreme environments encountered by the process industries. The increased safety antenna can be used with explosion proof access points such as Extronics' iWAP103, part of Extronics' complete range of hazardous area wireless network products.
Made from a rugged material Extronics' iANT100 is resistant to effectively any chemical or contaminant found in industry and is resistant to UV and mechanical impact. With an operating temperature range from -40ºC to 60ºC the Ex e increased safety antenna is suitable for a wide range of hazardous area applications, from offshore platforms to chemical or pharmaceutical plants.
